Welcome to water bodies

On 31 May as part of Oslo art weekend,

we gather by the fjord for communal knitting, dance and conversations on creative conservation.

We invite you to a co-creative knitting workshop. Here you can contribute to the shared textile work Dancing Habitat – a collective artistic call for a healthier and cleaner Oslofjord. Guided by Marea, the work will later be lowered into the sea, where it will become a habitat for tunicates and mussels. It will continue as a co-creation with the fjord.

Knit for Wildlife presents its Vega cohort: 5 knitters translating seabird decline into contemporary knitwear. Visitors can join the launch of #BirdColonyKAL and help build a digital seabird colony.

Exploring the relationship between ocean health and human health — physical, mental, and social. With the Oslofjord as both backdrop and collaborator, the project brings together communal knitting, dance, and shared reflection on how we might live with the fjord, ourselves, and each other in more connected and caring ways.

The project is grounded in the idea of re-inhabiting: learning to live in and with a place again after ecological damage, and industrial exploitation. Invites audiences to experience the fjord as an ecosystem, a shared space, and an extension of our own bodies.

Re-Inhabiting Oslofjorden is a Creature Conserve Curatorial Fellowship project, led and designed by Ingrid Styrkestad .
